Swaddling is one of the most important ways that you can keep your baby feeling safe and secure. With your first baby, it’s guaranteed you’ll worry about making sure that they are comfortable and not in a position to injure themselves by accident.

This is especially the case when the baby is sleeping in a bassinet or the crib in another room. Making sure you swaddled them correctly can be nerve-racking. This is where Woombie Swaddles can be a lifesaver!

These swaddles will let your baby sleep with their arms tucked in or out, but are still tight enough that they can’t wriggle out of the gentle grasp. After reading our Woombie review, you’ll understand why we recommend this swaddle for extra peace of mind in the middle of the night.

Woombie Baby Swaddle Review

The Woombie Swaddle specifically helps babies feel totally at ease and just maybe allow them to sleep for an extended period of time.

Since sleep is vital for newborns, it’s essential that you foster an environment where your baby can relax.

Woombie Swaddle
The Original Woombie Baby Swaddling Blanket

The Original Woombie Baby Swaddling Blanket

The Woombie is a swaddle that looks like a sleeping bag, designed to mimic the womb. The Woombie features a revolutionary design that ensures the baby is comfortable sleeping on their back, reducing the chances of SIDS. The Woombie is a great alternative to the traditional blanket swaddle which is often difficult to securely and safely wrap.

The Woombie is easy to fit onto your baby and zips right up for maximum comfort with a unique peanut-shaped design. Since your baby can have their arms in or out, it’s easy to customize based on their preference and development.

The Woombie can also grow with your baby with a Mega size for a 6-9 month old or a big baby that’s 20-25 lbs.

This swaddle is excellent for those who want to straddle the line between making sure that their baby feels secure and giving their baby a little freedom of movement. However, it may not be for people whose children suffer from hip problems.

WHAT WE LOVE

  • Nearly foolproof and anyone can use it safely if used properly.
  • Your baby will have freedom of motion while still feeling secure.
  • Ages well with your baby and can become a sleep sack as they age.
  • Two-way zipper allows easy night diaper changes in the middle of the night.
  • Babies are able to grasp their hands and place them on their chest for self-soothing.

WHAT COULD BE BETTER

  • Some parents might feel it’s a little loose for their liking.
  • Limited colors and patterns to choose from.
  • More expensive than other varieties of swaddles.

Woombie Features and Benefits

The Woombie can be an amazing gift for many reasons, but for us, it checked off all of the boxes and made us feel like our baby was truly safe.

Being a new parent is nerve-wracking enough without having to worry every night about your baby hurting themselves. The Woombie helps ease into the role as a new parent by taking away some stress. Here are some of the features and benefits that we found most helpful.

Woombie Makes it Easy to Find the Right Swaddle for Your Baby

The Woombie Swaddle comes with several different customizable options and lets you choose whether to have your baby’s arms in, arms out, or even just one arm out.

This feature limits baby movement or provides flexibility to have their arms free, so you can feel comfortable knowing that they can’t get into any shenanigans. I found that I had a lot more time to take care of things that I needed to around the house or simply have a little bit of “me time” while they sleep.

Two-Way Zipper for Easy Diaper Changes

The Woombie also makes diaper changes at night easy because of the two-way zipper.

There are other types of swaddles that require you to remove them entirely during diaper changes, which is not only inconvenient, but also disrupts your baby while they are trying to relax. The Woombie eliminates this step, which makes my job as a mom so much easier.

Choose From Multiple Size Swaddles

The Woombie Swaddles come in many different sizes and are appropriate for all types of babies, from preemies to big boys and girls. With four sizes for all stages of your baby’s growth, you can rest assured that they will protect your baby at all levels of their development.

Most of the swaddles are for newborns, but the Mega size fits babies who are six to nine months old and have not rolled over yet. These big babies still need to be swaddled for their safety, and the Woombie can do just that.

It’s refreshing to see a company that cares so much about providing so many options. It’s clear to me that they care and stand behind their product.

Woombie Swaddle Provides Freedom and Comfort

You don’t need to choose between freedom and comfort with your Woombie. These models allow you to have both. This option is excellent for children who sometimes prefer the warm snuggle of a tight swaddle and occasionally want to snuggle with a toy or have their arms out instead. The accessibility and customizable nature are some of the most significant features of the Woombie Swaddle, and indeed the biggest things that drew me to it.

The Woombie was ideal for me. It might not be the same for you, but there are plenty of other swaddles to choose from. Each parental journey is beautiful and unique, so make sure that you do what is best for you and your baby.

Other Woombie Swaddles

If the Woombie Swaddle isn’t for you, there are other alternatives to choose between. The Woombie brand is a solidly trusted one, and many parents throughout the world rely on these products to help their children grow and thrive safely.

Grow with Me Swaddle

Grow with Me is a fantastic swaddle option because it does exactly what the name suggests; grows with your baby through their first year and a half of life.

Grow with Me Swaddle

The Grow with Me swaddle can accommodate most babies up to 18 months, giving them a chance to bond with their swaddle and your wallet a break from buying multiple baby products over the first year and a half. This is a great option if you have a big baby.

Woombie Air

The Woombie Air is made of 95% cotton and 5% fabric with two mesh vents on either side of the zipper for better airflow. This increased air means your little one is less likely to overheat, especially on overly warm nights.

Woombie Air

The other benefits of the Woombie Air are the one-step wrap design and two-way zipper to make nighttime diaper changes much easier.

Soothie Swaddle

The Soothie swaddle comes with a detachable pacifier, which allows your baby to get both the benefits of the swaddle itself and soothe with a pacifier when they need to. You can also attach your own pacifier if your baby already has a preference. Like most Woombie Swaddle products, it’s easy to use and snug enough to give your baby that secure feeling they crave while still allowing the baby to move.

Swaddle Sock

The Swaddle Sock is a no-frills product that is made out of an extra-soft blend of Spandex and Cotton.

Your baby will feel just like they’re sleeping inside of a cloud. The only difference is that it’s not as easy for diaper changes while they are in the Swaddle Sock.

Bamboo Mod Swaddle

This swaddle is a fabulous option for all of you sophisticated parents. The Bamboo Mod Swaddle is a fashionable choice made out of natural fibers and organic Spandex and bamboo.

This swaddle comes in a wider variety of colors and styles than the original Woombie Swaddle, so if you love fashion, this could be the swaddle for you.

Is Woombie the Best Baby Swaddle?

The Woombie Swaddle is a great way to give your baby freedom and comfort, allowing them to explore their world in a safe and secure way. It’s customizable, simple to use, and you will love the peace of mind the Woombie gives you. The two-way zipper makes diaper changes in the middle of the night so much easier.

We looked at the SwaddleMe, Miracle Blanket, and several other types of swaddles out there. The Woombie was one of our favorites for its ease of use and ability to accommodate a one-week-old preemie to a big baby pushing 20 pounds.

If you are a new parent who simply wants to invest in a product that will make your life easier, this swaddle could be a lifesaver.

Things to Consider Before Buying the Woombie

The Woombie Swaddle is an excellent product, but it’s not for everyone. There are a few things that you should consider before investing in one of these types of swaddles for your baby.

Understanding Swaddling

Swaddling can be a confusing concept for new parents. It sure was for me! We need to swaddle babies to prevent them from accidentally hurting themselves and allowing them to feel comfortable and comforted.

Good swaddles should adequately mimic the womb where your little one is tightly, but gently wrapped up.

This is to prevent your baby from waking up from the involuntary startle reflex newborns that occur frequently. It also helps prevent them from scratching their sweet faces with their incredibly sharp and paper-thin nails.

When we had our first baby, I remember getting a tight swaddle with regular swaddling blankets took A LOT of practice along with some trial and error. The nurses at the hospital could do it perfectly while the room was completely dark, but they also practice every day with many babies – it’s impressive to watch!

Some Babies Should Not Be Swaddled

If your baby has hip dysplasia, you shouldn’t put them into a traditional swaddle. The Woombie, while appropriate for almost all babies, could harm those with hip problems. Always talk to your doctor in advance.

The ideal customer for this type of swaddle wants their baby to have the freedom to put their arms in or out, and whose baby likes a nice, tight swaddle.

What should a baby wear under a Woombie?

During warmer seasons, it’s best to keep your baby in a short-sleeved onesie. As it gets colder, you can add layers of clothing like a cotton or fleece footed sleeper.

The great thing about the Woombie or any swaddling blanket is that you can layer up based on your baby’s preferences. You may need to experiment to find the right layers to keep them cool or warm enough based on the temperature.

Diaper Changes in the Middle of the Night

It’s important to consider that during much of the first year, you’ll likely need to change your baby’s diaper during the night. This is more so in the first few months when you’re also likely feeding them in the early hours of the morning.

So, it’s important the swaddling blanket or outfit makes it easy to get off and on for easy diaper access. The easiest to use are often those with a zipper to make diaper changes quick when you’re super tired.

How the Swaddle Fastens is Important

There are a few different methods to keep your baby swaddled up. The most common fasteners are a zipper button, or even Velcro to keep their arms snug to their little bodies.

The standard swaddling or receiving blanket you’ll get at the hospital is often just that – a blanket. The only way to secure it is to tuck it into itself as you wrap the baby up.

Other swaddling blankets have Velcro to hold the fabric together. However, Velcro may not provide a strong enough hold for the strong and determined babies.

Possibly the best method to secure the swaddle is by using a sleep sack with a zipper. This is the most secure and guaranteed way to hold the fabric where it needs to be.
